Brooks A. Pangburn

Brooks Arthur Pangburn, an Ordained Minister in the Universal Life Church, passed away at Citrus Valley Hospice on June 10, 2013 after a battle with cancer. He was born in Whittier, California on August 30, 1952.

Brooks attended Lake Marie Elementary School in Whittier, California.  His family, including two brothers, Wayne and Scott, moved to Santa Rosa when he was ten years old. There he attended Piner High School in Santa Rosa, graduating in 1970.  He then earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon.

Brooks subsequently worked at various jobs including stints with Alaska State Parks, Alaska Dept. of Transportation, and Alaska Dept. of Fish and Game, where he worked primarily as a programmer/analyst.  His career led to the field of water resources management and he worked first, for the Yakama Indian tribe in Washington in that capacity, then capped off his career with over twenty years of service at Main San Gabriel Basin Watermaster agency in Azusa, California.

Brooks is survived by his tender and caring wife Sharon, two sons, Duane and Kevin, five grandchildren, and his younger brother, Scott.  He was predeceased by beloved parents Owen and Geraldine Pangburn and by his brother Wayne.  At his request, there will be no memorial service.

Brooks established a scholarship fund in 2010 at Oregon State University’s Dept. of Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences and he requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to that fund.  Donations will be used to assist students in completing internships required for graduation.
